This workshop is for farmers who may be new to soil testing or who are interested in learning more about available soil testing resources.

About Zenger Farm
Zenger Farm is a working farm and workshop attendees will be out in the field for a portion of the session. Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes.
Childcare will not be provided for this event, and children are not permitted to be left unattended.
Directions and Parking:
Parking at Zenger Farm is limited. Carpooling is encouraged. Workshop participants may park in the main lot, and street parking is also available.
From I-205 exit onto Foster heading East. Drive about 2 miles. Zenger Farm is at the top of a hill on your left. Look for the red farmhouse with solar panels.
Public Transportation
Bus lines 10 and 73 both stop directly in front of the farm on Foster and 116th. The MAX Green line and bus line 14 stop at Foster and 94th where you can hop on either the 10 or 73 Eastbound and be dropped off in front of the farm. Use Trimet’s Trip Planner to find the quickest route from your location.
Bike
You can ride directly on Foster, a busy four lane road with bike lanes and sidewalks. The paved multi-use Springwater Corridor Trail passes very close to the farm as well. If heading East on the trail, the farm is just a mile after turning right onto Foster. If heading West on the trail, turn left onto 122nd, ride a quarter-mile, turn right onto Foster, and ride another quarter-mile to the farm. Look for the red farmhouse with solar panels.

Afternoon field session to be held on a nearby farm. Additional information will be provided after registration.
This event is FREE to Producers and Technical Assistance Providers.
Dr. Shannon Cappellazzi will facilitate a workshop for agriculture professionals interested in building skills in soil sampling for soil health monitoring.
Up to 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available to participants through the American Society of Agronomy. Registration is required.

Dr. Shannon Cappellazzi will facilitate a workshop for agriculture professionals interested in building skills in soil sampling for soil health monitoring.
Attendees will:

Build a foundational understanding of soil health principles, including basic soil functions, and the role of soil microbial communities.

Learn to about practices to protect and enhance soil health and function.

Gain skills in soil health sampling through demonstration and hands-on practice in taking a soil sample, visual soil health assessment and in-field soil tests, landscape evaluation, and site selection.

Understand new guidelines for soil health sampling for NRCS CEMA 216.
Up to 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available to participants through the American Society of Agronomy. Registration is required.
